Shipping Policy

At Mandas, we want every order to reach you safely and within a reasonable time. This Shipping Policy explains how we process, ship, track, and deliver orders placed through mandas.co.in.

1. Where We Deliver

Mandas currently delivers orders within India.

Delivery is subject to courier serviceability for the destination PIN code. Certain remote, restricted, or temporarily non-serviceable PIN codes may not be eligible for delivery.

If your PIN code is not serviceable, the applicable information will be communicated during the ordering process or after the order is received.

2. Shipping Partner

Mandas uses Shiprocket as its shipping and logistics aggregation platform.

Shiprocket may assign an appropriate courier partner to your order based on factors such as destination, serviceability, delivery network, package characteristics, and operational availability.

Accordingly, the courier delivering an individual order may vary.

3. Order Processing

Orders are generally processed within 1–2 business days after successful payment and order confirmation.

Processing includes:

  1. Confirmation of the order.
  2. Verification of product availability.
  3. Picking and packing.
  4. Generation of shipping documentation.
  5. Handover to the assigned logistics partner.

Orders placed on weekends or public holidays may begin processing on the next business day.

During periods of high order volume, such as book launches, major promotions, or festivals, processing may take slightly longer.

4. Delivery Timeline

Mandas aims to deliver orders within approximately 7 business days from successful order confirmation, subject to destination and courier serviceability.

The actual delivery time may vary depending on:

  • Destination PIN code
  • Courier network
  • Public holidays
  • Weather
  • Transportation conditions
  • Remote-area serviceability
  • Address-related issues
  • Other circumstances outside Mandas’ reasonable control

The delivery estimate shown during checkout, where applicable, will take precedence over a general estimate stated in this policy.

We do not guarantee delivery on a particular date unless a specific delivery commitment is expressly communicated to you.

5. Shipping Charges

Shipping charges are calculated based on the delivery PIN code and applicable shipment details.

During checkout, customers will be asked to enter their delivery PIN code. The applicable shipping charge for the order will then be calculated and displayed before payment is completed.

Shipping charges may vary based on factors including:

  • Delivery PIN code
  • Shipment weight and dimensions
  • Courier serviceability
  • Available courier options
  • Other applicable logistics conditions

The final shipping charge displayed at checkout is the amount applicable to the order.

6. Delivery

Mandas currently accepts prepaid orders only.

Cash on Delivery (COD) is not available.

Payment is completed through the payment methods made available at checkout.

7. Tracking Your Order

Once your order has been dispatched, tracking information will be made available where applicable.

You may receive shipping updates through:

  • Email
  • SMS
  • Your Mandas account/order page
  • Other available communication channels

Tracking information is supplied by the relevant logistics network and may take some time to update after dispatch.

8. Order Status

Your order may move through the following stages:

Order Placed → Processing → Packed → Shipped → In Transit → Out for Delivery → Delivered

The exact wording of individual statuses may vary between Mandas, Shiprocket, and the courier partner.

9. Delivery Address

You are responsible for providing complete and accurate delivery information at checkout.

Please ensure that your:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Locality
  • City
  • State
  • PIN code
  • Mobile number

are correct.

An incorrect or incomplete address may result in delayed delivery or a Return to Origin (RTO).

10. Failed Delivery Attempts

A courier may be unable to deliver an order for reasons including:

  • Incorrect or incomplete address
  • Recipient unavailable
  • Recipient unable to be contacted
  • Customer refusal
  • PIN code/serviceability issues
  • Other operational circumstances

Courier partners may make additional delivery attempts before initiating the return process. The number and timing of reattempts may vary by courier.

Where an appropriate delivery action is available, Mandas or the logistics partner may contact you to resolve the issue.

11. Return to Origin (RTO)

An RTO (Return to Origin) occurs when a shipment cannot be successfully delivered and is returned to Mandas.

Common reasons include:

  • Incorrect address
  • Recipient unavailable after delivery attempts
  • Refusal of the shipment
  • Serviceability limitations
  • Other delivery failures.

What happens when an order becomes RTO?

When an order is returned to Mandas, we will receive and inspect the returned package.

For a prepaid order, we recommend the following customer-friendly handling:

Where the failed delivery was caused by the customer

Examples:

  • Incorrect address supplied by the customer
  • Customer repeatedly unavailable
  • Customer refused delivery
  • Customer failed to respond to delivery attempts

Mandas may contact the customer and offer one re-shipment opportunity, subject to confirmation of a valid serviceable address.

Any additional shipping cost for re-shipment may be charged to the customer.

If the customer does not request or confirm re-shipment within 7 days of Mandas contacting them, the order may be cancelled and refunded after deduction of any applicable actual shipping/RTO costs already incurred by Mandas, where legally permissible and clearly communicated.

Where the failed delivery was not caused by the customer

Where an RTO occurs because of:

  • Courier error
  • Incorrect courier handling
  • Serviceability failure not caused by the customer
  • Other circumstances attributable to the logistics process

Mandas will review the shipment and provide an appropriate resolution, which may include re-shipment at no additional shipping cost or a refund, as applicable.

This distinction is important because RTOs can arise from several different causes, rather than automatically being the customer’s fault.

12. RTO Refunds

For eligible prepaid orders that are not re-shipped, refunds will be processed using the applicable original payment method or another appropriate method.

Where an RTO was caused by circumstances attributable to the customer, any deduction of actual logistics/RTO costs will be communicated before the refund is processed and will remain subject to applicable law.

No deduction will be made for an RTO arising from a Mandas or courier error where such deduction would be inappropriate.

13. Damaged Books

If a book arrives damaged, please contact Mandas within 7 days of delivery.

To help us investigate the issue, please provide:

  • Order number
  • Photographs of the damaged book
  • Photographs of the packaging
  • A brief description of the damage

Please retain the book and its original packaging until the matter is resolved.

Where the product is determined to have been damaged in transit or otherwise qualifies for a remedy, Mandas may provide an appropriate replacement, refund, or other remedy, subject to the applicable Returns & Refunds Policy.

14. Incorrect or Missing Items

If your order contains:

  • The wrong book
  • An incorrect quantity
  • A missing item
  • A different product from what was ordered

please contact us within 7 days of delivery.

Please provide:

  • Order number
  • Description of the problem
  • Photographs where relevant

We will investigate and provide the appropriate resolution.

15. Lost or Delayed Shipments

If tracking indicates that a shipment has been significantly delayed, lost, or placed into an exception status, please contact Mandas.

We may coordinate with Shiprocket and the relevant courier partner to investigate.

Resolution timelines can depend on the logistics provider’s investigation and claims process.

16. Multiple Shipments

An order containing multiple books may, where operationally necessary, be divided into more than one shipment.

If this happens, separate tracking information may be provided.

17. Availability and Out-of-Stock Situations

If a product becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, Mandas will contact the customer regarding the available options.

Where Mandas cannot fulfil an order that has already been paid for, the applicable amount will be refunded in accordance with the refund process.

18. Delays Beyond Our Control

Mandas will make reasonable efforts to meet the stated delivery timelines.

However, delivery may be delayed by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Severe weather
  • Natural disasters
  • Transportation disruptions
  • Public holidays
  • Strikes
  • Government or regulatory restrictions
  • Courier operational issues
  • Extraordinary increases in shipment volumes

Where we become aware of a material delay, we will make reasonable efforts to keep affected customers informed.

19. Restricted and Non-Serviceable Locations

Some PIN codes may not be serviceable through available courier networks.

Shiprocket provides mechanisms for identifying and managing ODA/RTO-prone PIN codes, which reflects the fact that certain remote areas may present additional delivery limitations.

If your delivery location becomes non-serviceable, Mandas may contact you regarding an alternative delivery address or the available cancellation/refund options.

20. Returns and Refunds

Shipping-related returns and refunds are governed by the Mandas Returns, Refunds & Cancellation Policy.

This Shipping Policy should therefore be read together with that policy.

The Returns & Refunds Policy will specify:

  • Eligible returns
  • Return window
  • Refund eligibility
  • Replacement conditions
  • Return shipping responsibility
  • Refund processing timeline

Indian e-commerce rules require relevant delivery, return, refund, exchange, and return-shipping information to be presented clearly and accessibly.

21. Customer Responsibility

Customers are expected to:

  • Provide accurate delivery information.
  • Remain reasonably available during delivery.
  • Respond to delivery-related communications where necessary.
  • Receive the shipment when delivery is attempted.
  • Report damaged, incorrect, or missing items within the specified reporting window.

This helps us minimize avoidable delivery failures and RTOs.
